This wiki is dedicated to sharing information from and for the HCC community about social services. It’s a central place to find information on programs from governmental agencies and non-profits. These resources are local, and cover many of the issues students are dealing with.
A wiki is a website -- but anyone can edit or add to it, without knowing computer code or downloading software. It's constantly growing and updating, and reflects the knowledge and work of a whole community, not one author. (For an example, check out
www.en.wikipedia.org)
A wiki is essentially collaborative. This is not a static document, but an information exchange. I have put a lot there – and am adding more – but there are still gaps. If you know of resources, let’s include them.
Add them to the wiki yourself or send them to areid@hcc.mass.edu, and I will add them.
The only way to keep the wiki up-to-date and accurate, is to make changes as we find problems. If you see something that is incorrect or out of date – change it or let me know.
For more about wiki's - check out the entry on wikipedia (an online encyclopedia entirely in wiki format) by searching below
The Fine Print:
We try to keep the information on this wiki accurate and up to date -- but can't guarantee it. Go to the source if you need to be certain something is correct.
HCC doesn't endorse any of these organizations or programs by listing them here. We hope your experience with them is good, but we can't control or ensure it.
To edit:
Anyone at HCC can make changes, but you will be asked for a password. If you don't already have it, email
areid@hcc.mass.edu
From any page you want to edit, click the blue “EDIT” button at the top of the page.
The page will open in a basic editing program – it looks and works just like word processing. Type additional information and use the buttons at the top to format it. Try to keep your additions consistent with the existing format.
If you see brackets < >, please don’t change the text between them, this is code that makes something happen on the wiki. (For example <toc> makes the table of contents appear automatically)
YOU MUST HIT SAVE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN WHEN YOU ARE DONE
To Try out the EDIT function - Play in the SandBox
